    Choose a photo and details you are comfortable sharing. Review linked social accounts as a stranger would see them; leave private addresses and routines out.

    Choose nearby sharing.

    Read the explanation in your app, check location permission and decide whether to start a session. Optional background discovery has a separate explanation and choice.

    Find a shared interest.

    Browse the available profiles and use approximate distance as context. It does not reveal an exact pin or tell you whether someone wants to meet.

    Keep it considerate.

    If you choose to reach out through a shared social link, send a relevant first message and leave room for no response. The other service’s rules apply there.

Is DOS available to download now?

DOS is in early rollout. Public App Store and Google Play links will appear on the early-access page when ready. Joining the list requests availability updates; it does not guarantee a release date or create an app account.

What can nearby people see?

Your public profile and approximate distance when you participate in nearby sharing. They do not see exact coordinates or a map pin. Review the details and social links you make public, because linked accounts can reveal additional information.

Does location permission make me visible automatically?

In DOS 1.0.6 beta, device permission alone does not start a new sharing session. Starting Nearby and optional background discovery have their own choices. Earlier app builds can differ; see the privacy policy for version-specific behaviour.

Is it only for students or dating?

DOS is a social discovery app for adults aged 18 and over, including people outside university. A nearby profile does not indicate romantic interest or a desire to meet. DOS is independent and is not affiliated with UMF Iași.

Will there always be people nearby?

No. The available profiles depend on actual participation, sharing choices and location freshness. DOS is starting in Iași, and activity can be uneven during the early rollout. An empty list is not a reason to widen your privacy settings.

Can I stop sharing or report a concern?

Use the app’s visibility control to stop nearby sharing, and review device permissions separately. A published web profile has its own controls. Visit the safety center for block, report, privacy-request and account-deletion routes.
