Understand the deletion request, its consequences and justified exceptions
Use the in-app deletion flow
Open DOS Settings and use the account-deletion control Review the confirmation and any reauthentication request If you cannot access the app or the flow fails, use this page to request assistance from a safe reply address Submitting the website form asks for processing; it does not instantly authenticate, erase or export your account
Uninstalling the app, signing out, disabling visibility and deleting an account are different actions Stop location sharing separately if you need an immediate stop while a deletion issue is being handled
What deletion is designed to remove
Account deletion is designed to remove the sign-in account, profile, public web card, account-owned device and location records, notification preferences, favorites, blocks and related owned data It also attempts cleanup of relevant cross-references and active stored media A deletion can require retries if a dependent service fails; completion should not be claimed solely because the request was submitted
Limited deletion safeguards, audit information and records necessary for a valid legal or security purpose may remain Shared business entities and records involving other people require separate treatment so that one person’s deletion does not unlawfully erase another’s rights or business records
Recovery copies, evidence and external copies
Provider recovery copies and backups can expire after active data is deleted The profile-media storage bucket has a seven-day soft-delete recovery period This is separate from active profile removal and is not a guarantee that every independent copy is erased after seven days A legal hold should identify relevant categories, reason, access controls and a release or review trigger; it is not permission to keep everything indefinitely
DOS cannot delete another person’s screenshots, memory, independently copied public content or records controlled by a separate external service You can still request assistance where DOS has a relevant legal duty Unpublishing a card and asking a search engine or external service to remove its copy are separate steps
Subscriptions and review
Check any App Store or Google Play subscription separately Account deletion or uninstalling does not necessarily cancel a store-managed subscription Applicable cancellation and refund rights remain available
Save information you need before confirming deletion If a record is retained or the request is refused in part, ask for the reason, relevant categories and available review route Nothing here prevents a protected privacy complaint
