If someone is in immediate danger
Contact local emergency services first In Romania and across the EU, call 112 Move to a safer place if you can DOS is not an emergency dispatch service, and a report is not a live distress signal or a promise of immediate intervention
If someone is pressuring you to meet, send money, disclose a code or share intimate material, stop the interaction Do not confront a suspected stalker just to obtain more evidence
Before you become visible
Choose a safe context for discovery Avoid using it where revealing your presence could put you at risk, including near your home, a shelter or a sensitive appointment Approximate distance can still reveal proximity A public photo, name and social handle can identify you even when coordinates are not shown
Read the explanation for your installed build Foreground and optional background sessions behave differently For 1.0.6 beta, background sharing can continue with the screen locked and may resume an existing session when the app reopens End the session using DOS controls when you no longer want to participate Review all stop controls and version differences
Block, stop and report
Open the person’s profile, open the three-dot menu and choose Block Manage blocks in Settings → Blocked users Blocking prevents discovery between those accounts It cannot erase screenshots, prevent every new account or block a person automatically on an external social platform
Stop sharing if you feel unsafe Report harassment, stalking, threats, scams, impersonation, suspected underage accounts or misuse of location Include enough information to identify the relevant account or content without exposing unrelated people You can report behavior even if you also block the person
Meeting and financial safety
Public profile information is not a background check If you choose to meet, use a busy public place, arrange your own transport and let someone you trust know your plans You can leave or refuse further contact at any time A nearby result, favorite, reply or published card is not consent to an in-person meeting or continued contact
Do not send money, gift cards, financial credentials or one-time codes to someone you have only encountered online Be cautious of urgent investments, requests to move to a suspicious link, romance-related financial pressure and claims to work for DOS support
Threats, intimate content and minors
Do not pay an extortion demand or distribute the material to prove what happened Preserve the account identifier, a link where available, and a short factual description Keep lawful evidence privately Do not upload suspected child sexual abuse material, passwords, full payment records or intimate images to the general contact form
Use emergency services or appropriate specialist authorities when the circumstances require them DOS may need to preserve relevant evidence and involve authorities where law requires it, while avoiding unnecessary disclosure
What reporting can and cannot do
A report provides information for assessment It does not establish guilt automatically, guarantee removal, guarantee anonymity in every legal process or guarantee continuous monitoring Restrictions should reflect evidence, seriousness and applicable duties Ask for review if a decision seems wrong
DOS’s safety duties remain alongside each user’s responsibility for their own behavior Safety warnings and your choice to use the service do not erase either side’s legal obligations
